Etymology of Celtis:
Latin name used by Pliny the Elder referring to the unrelated Ziziphus lotus. This name now refers to a genus of deciduous trees. The ‘new’ family names seem to be Celtidaceae or Cannabaceae (formerly Ulmaceae).

Named after Gttfried W.J. Mildbraed a botainst from Berlin who explored extensivelly in Africa
