About
Award-winning Senior Foreign Correspondent for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, currently working from Toronto, covering and analyzing world events.
Most recently I covered the Asia Pacific region as the CBC's Beijing Bureau Chief, including China, North and South Korea and Japan... in the thick of protests in Hong Kong and the day to day battle to file news from China for five years.
Previously, I was CBC-TV's Middle East Bureau Chief for four years, based in Jerusalem. I produced award-winning journalism from Syria during the civil war, as well as reporting from Gaza through two conflicts with Israel. I followed the Arab Spring through revolutions and regime changes in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia, as well as covering Iraq, Turkey and Lebanon.
Over three decades, my career at Canadian Broadcasting has taken me to every continent, filing news, features and documentaries, as reporter and producer, photographer and videographer. From London and Washington to the ice fields of Antarctica.
My coverage of the war in Syria won the Canadian Screen Award for Best Reporting in 2014. I have also also received awards from the Radio Television News Directors Association (RTDNA) and the Canadian Association of Journalists for my documentary story-telling and investigative journalism.
Beyond photojournalism, I have had solo gallery exhibits of my art photography in Toronto and Ottawa, as well as shows and art talks in London, UK and Belgrade, Serbia. More to come!
