Stonebreaker, what is it?

Stonebreaker (Asplenium ceterach o Ceterach officinarum), also called Cedracca, Cetracca or Ceterach, is a small fern belonging to the Aspleniacea family that grows wild in cool areas of central Europe (it is also widespread in Italy), developing a small rhizome from which grow fronds Lancelolored and pinnate-partite arranged in a rosette.

Since the stonebreaker is a fern, it does not produce flowers or fruits but reproduces through spores that mature in specific formations called sori, which are found on the undersides of the fronds.

This herb is also called rust grass, since the undersides of the fronds and petioles are covered with brown scales, or rock-breaking grass from the fact that this fern often grows on dry stone walls and in rock crevices, slowly breaking them up.

Despite this, its mechanism of action is still partially unknown. A study conducted in vitro by Italian researchers was able to partially understand certain mechanisms of action, highlighting how the aqueous extract can exert important antioxidant effects and how it is able to interfere with the growth and aggregation of crystals of calcium oxalate monohydrate.

In addition, the aqueous extract was found to be effective in changing the shape and size of calcium oxalate crystals, assotigliating them and reducing their size leading them to adhere less to renal cells and be eliminated more easily.

Stone Splitter Mother Tincture

Mother tincture (TM) is a liquid preparation, obtained by extracting the fresh drug by percolation or maceration with an appropriate solvent.

The solvent most used in mother tinctures is a hydroalcoholic solution (water + alcohol) with a variable alcohol content (most often between 60 ° and 80 °) depending on the solubility of the active ingredients to be extracted.

La Mother Tincture of Stonebreaker is an herbal preparation extracted from the leaves and fruits of the plant, which are macerated in a 1:10 ratio in a solution of water and Alcohol. Spaccapietra Glyceric Macerate: what it is

In recent years, Mother Tinctures extracted with the Vegetable Glycerin instead of Alcohol, which makes them better in several respects. In addition, since Glycerin is a less potent type of solvent and therefore less extractive than Alcohol, innovative extraction techniques are used, such as the‘Ultrasonic Extraction.

Ultrasonic extraction is an innovative, clean, quick and easy extraction technique that allows to extract the active ingredients from plants and medicinal plants in particular and to make quality phytoextracts, taking advantage of the exclusively mechanical action exerted by the cavitation effect produced by sound waves.

Mother Tincture of Stonebreaker
is obtained by hydroglyceric maceration of the leaves of Ceterach Officinalis, again at a ratio of 1:10, and is an innovative type of Mother Tincture, which, having been obtained by the ultrasonic process, makes it better from several points of view.
