Lonicera pileata

Lonicera pileata Oliv. (syn.: L. ligustrina Wall. var. pileata (Oliv.) Franch.) (China) – A rather rare but increasing escape from cultivation, first recorded from a cemetery in Izegem and from the ruins of the lapidarium in Ieper, both in 2004. Subsequently recorded from several other locations but much more rare than Lonicera nitida and, for the time being, probably not becoming naturalised yet. Both share the same habitats and are sometimes found together, for instance in woodland in Ardooie in 2008 (‘t Veld).

This species is often barely distinguished from (forms of) Lonicera nitida. See under that species and Schulz (2011).
