Common name red ruellia; false petunia Family acanthaceae Life cycle tender perennial (Z8-11) Flowers red Size 12" Light sun-part shade Cultural notes heat and drought tolerant Native to South America, grown for its scarlet flowers. Our nursery tag said it grows to 12", some other sources say a good bit taller – so perhaps ours is a small-growing cultivar. No name (or even species) on plant tag, so it's hard to say.

This plant used to grow in our garden, but it slipped away...
