Common Name The Long Sepal Eulophia

Flower Size

Found in Zaire, Burundi, Tanzania, Angola, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Natal South Africa in mixed deciduous woodlands and coastal forests on granite outcrops, rocky hill slopes and escarpments in sandy soils at elevations of 5 to 1400 meters as a miniature to large sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial with subterranean perennating, branched tuber giving rise to vestigal, linear, purplish leaves that blooms in the late spring through summer on 1 to 3, erect, arising with or before the leaves, slender, wiry, red green to purple, 4 to 30" [10 to 75 cm] long, rachis 3.2 to 10" [8 to 25 cm] long, laxly few to several flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts.
