Common Name The Hood-Shaped Cephalanthera [refers to the leaves shape]
Flower Size to 1.5" [to 3.75 cm]
Found in Crete in mixed forests with oak, cypress and maple at elevations of 700 to 1500 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with a flexuous, hairless, grooved towards the tip stem carrying lowest almost on the soil, 2 to 4, oblong-lanceolate, hooded, pointed, erect, dark, glaucous, near clasping basally leaves grading to bracts above that blooms in the later spring on a terminal, erect, 1.6 to 6" [4 to 15 cm] long, lax, 4 to 30 flowered inflorescence.
The first 2 photos are taken on the island of Crete so they are ofr sure correct, The other 2 photos are asn orchid within Iran and so cannot be this species.
